Dr. Bente Tiedje is a research associate at the Climate Service Center Germany who focuses on the applicability of decadal climate predictions within the framework of the project MiKlip. MiKlip aims to create a global prediction system that can provide reliable forecasts on climate and weather on a temporal scale of 10 years. Within MiKlip Dr. Bente Tiedje develops prototype products for specific users from the private sector using the available data from MiKlip's climate predictions. Ultimately, the information from the prototype products will support the users' decision making process in future climate relevant problems.

After her studies in physical oceanography, Dr. Bente Tiedje graduated from the University of Hamburg with a doctorate. As a research associate in the Junior Research Group of Climate System Data Assimilation she mainly focused on the decadal variability and predictability of the heat and mass transport in the North Atlantic, and on the question of which dynamical processes allow or limit predictability. As an oceanographer engaged in decadal predictions of large scale oceanic processes she was always interested in how global climate changes impact regional climate conditions.
