This year, GERICS was invited to give a series of talks end of October 2019 in Taiwan with different users and stakeholders and Jo-Ting Huang-Lachmann, Claas Teichmann and María Máñez Costa were in Taiwan on regional climate modelling, climate services and climate change adaptation.

GERICS Director Daniela Jacob also contributed as a keynote speaker to give a remote speech on the 2019 TCCIP International Workshop on Climate Change and 2019 Asia Pacific Climate Service Workshop. She would like to support the climate service events worldwide by providing scientific insights on climate services and global warming of 1.5 ºC and at the same time showing a good example how teleconferences could contribute to emission reductions.

GERICS co-develops with the Taiwanese institutions on concrete collaboration
projects and products, including having Kaohsiung City joining the EU project,
INNOVA (Innovation in Climate Service Provision) and co-developing Climate-Fact-Sheets as well as providing CORDEX-CORE data.

The GERICS team was also invited to meetings with more important agencies in
Taiwan, including the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Academia
Sinica, as well as the 10th Anniversary of Belmont Forum celebration event in Taipei,
Taiwan.
