Dr. Dmitry Kovalevsky works in the Climate Impacts and Economics Department at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht in the research area of economic modelling of climate adaptation. Dmitry works on EU H2020 IMPREX project “IMproving PRedictions and management of hydrological EXtremes”, with the major area of responsibility in developing integrated system dynamics interdisciplinary models for climate adaptation.

Dmitry Kovalevsky graduated from St. Petersburg State University (Faculty of Physics, Department of Statistical Physics) and received his PhD in Oceanography from Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI, St. Petersburg, Russia). He also got qualification of Manager in Public Administration at St. Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics. For several years, Dmitry conducted research in economics of climate change and in economic modelling at the Nansen International Environmental and Remote Sensing Centre (NIERSC, St. Petersburg, Russia) and at the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Centre (NERSC, Bergen, Norway). He worked as a project coordinator for several national projects, and participated in a number of international projects, including EU FP7 COMPLEX and EU FP7 EuRuCAS projects.
